It has been a very hot summer

This deer does not look well.

Usually the deer around here travel in groups.

A group of deer is called a heard.

A group of unicorns is called a blessing.

I was laid off recently.

It wasn't for anything crummy like "underperformance" or "inappropriate workplace behavior." It happened because of market conditions.

There were plenty of kind words shared with me like:

"We invested in you because we saw your value and do not regret our investment, just saddened that we did not get to move forward as planned."

And I'm saddened, too.

It has been about a month since the layoff happened. I haven't had much motivation to code or learn anything new.

Frankly, I've been playing Tears Of The Kingdom and riding my bike.

This site is an attempt to get back some zeal for engineering. An attempt to show off my work outside of private repos and internal tooling.

This site is also a place for my unstructured thoughts, a way to hold myself accountable, and to document some bits of my life.

Unicorns are not real. Neither are blessings.

But I'm hopeful something good will come along.
